objective
This project centered on the intentional manipulation and arrangement of typography and image to convey messages through a poster series. I was tasked with designing three posters that advertised the poetry reading "Elusive Echoes" and embodied the work of Charmaine Lee, JJJerome Ellis, and Patti Smith, three poets who fuse music and the written word.
research
I began this project by researching the poets, comparing and contrasting their work and discovering what makes each of them unique.
ideation
A lot of time was dedicated to experimentation and exploration when starting this project. These ideations combine printed type that was manipulated and additional effects using photoshop.
refinement
I then chose the direction that best incorporated elements of depth and movement, as this emulated the poets’ transformative and immersive performances, and began iterations on a single poster.

To ensure the series was cohesive, I kept the typeface and compositions consistent throughout and highlighted the poets’ unique characteristics through color.
